2. God blesses us as we cling to Him in our brokenness. Often our greatest victories come out of the ashes of our greatest defeats. As soon as Jacob was crippled, he was able to hang on to the Lord for dear life. He knew now that if God didn’t bless him, he had no hope. He couldn’t trust in himself any longer, because he was crippled. Broken but Blessed exemplifies what it means to live a life built upon the Beatitudes. Being blessed is not to be lucky, nor is to escape the difficult moments of living and ultimately dying. For those who work in chaplaincy of any type, this book has much to say about living to the fullest in light of adversity, recognizing that from that adversity there is a beatitude – a blessing – to.   Many of us wear masks that hide our brokenness, hoping nobody else will notice. We pay attention to outward appearances, hoping nobody really sees what’s on the inside, but that only keeps us from experiencing true happiness and joy. There is real blessing in brokenness, if we can just admit we’re broken. One of the things I have discovered through being broken, however, is that after brokenness we can experience God’s greatest blessings. After brokenness our lives can be the most fruitful and have the most purpose. The dawn after a very dark and storm-wreaked night is glorious. Feeling joy again after a period of intense mourning can be ecstatic.

Broken can be the best place to be. I love to read and can sit for hours devouring great books. I worked as a cardiovascular nurse specialist for 25 years. I love people. I love children but was unable to have my own. I am blessed God brought our lives together through the blog world so many years ago. I am confident God is going to use.   The first Beatitude, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” is primarily intellectual (those who understand that they are spiritual beggars are blessed); the second Beatitude, “Blessed are those who mourn,” is its emotional counterpart. It naturally follows that when we see ourselves for what we are, our emotions will be stirred to mourning.   Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit" - contrary to what we would expect, brokenness is the pathway to blessing! There are no alternative routes; there are no short-cuts. The very thing we dread and are tempted to resist is actually the means to God's greatest blessings in our lives. Blessed Brokenness is a result of couples who personally walked a dark season of infertility and loss, then found God’s hope despite the circumstances. Once on the other side of their miracles, God filled them with a supernatural love for couples navigating infertility and a fueling passion to help.

However, being broken can sometimes involve more than your physical health. There are so many ways we can experience some form of brokenness. Here are just a few examples that I feel apply to most of us at some point in our lives. Broken Promises-leading to divorce or lost relationships; Broken Spirit-totally subdued emotionally/without hope.   “Broken and Blessed!” Galatians Our experiences shape us. For most of us, “experiences” rather than “truth” carry more weight in defining our understanding of life than anything else. We arrive at the conclusion that what we experience, through our eyes, is truth.   the spiritual growth process includes brokenness. After periods of brokenness, our lives can prove to be the most fruitful and have the most purpose, but we must first confront why God has allowed us to be broken in the first place. Sometimes brokenness is a direct result of our unconfessed sin. Other times it may be due to the sins of others. Brokenness means the shattering of our self-will, so that the life and Spirit of the Lord Jesus may be released through us. It is our response of humility and obedience to the conviction of the Word and the Spirit of God. Brokenness is a lifestyle of agreeing with God about the true condition of our heart and life, as He sees it.
